Are both information technology specialists and management as well as business specialists and management involved in the planning and development of Business Intelligence? Historically, when one group or the other has worked alone, results are usually less than successful. Most often the results are isolated data marts or underused data warehouse infrastructures. .
Metrics: The metric should include:
1. Joint team make up - documented into development standards and procedures. Documented standards should include both IT and business specialists on every team during every part of the design and development.
2. Observed team efforts. Audit team should see clear evidence of joint teams, working together.
3. Defined roles and responsibilities.
4. Process training and support.
5. Reviews and followup.
