KPI:  Scalability
kpi value
Business Intelligence systems must support perhaps thousands of users who interactively access the same reports and data, and usually, a growing volume of data and queries.   Scalability refers to the ability to meet the changing requirements of the organization in terms of number of users, type and number of reports, applications, and data volumes.  Scalability refers to the ability to support these increases in data, queries, users quickly, effectively, efficiently - with no downtime in the system.

Metrics:
1.  Can the component/construct being audited accommodate increased users, data, communications?
2.  Speed of accommodation to the increased volumes? Can the needs be met within the defined requirements?
3.  Has there been clearly documented planning for changes in volumes in data, users, queries?  Have all known and planned volume requirements been identified and incorporated into the component being assessed?
4.  Are there monitors in place to assure that volumes are as expected? Monitors to identify potential problems and required adjustments.
