How much did the business intelligence cost in terms of time, money and human resources? What are the benefits and level of return? We use this KPI in the overall ranking of the organization. We also use this KPI to assess each of the components/constructs of the BI asset base. You may find that researching and assessing the value of each component may help in assessing whether the right tools, processes, standards are being used. You should judge whether using this KPI to assess specific components will add any value to your assessment for those components. This KPI is really a culmination of the efforts to assign cost and benefit numbers to business intelligence. Since so much of the value is in intangibles and/or factors which cannot be reduced to numbers, the usual caveats apply.
Metrics:
1. Identify and agree on benefits and assign some monetary value.
2. Costs. Research and apply accounting figures, including numbers for such factors as resource utilization.
Metrics: BI Asset Base & Infrastructures
The Key Performance Indicators are the metrics which are used in measuring the Business Intelligence Asset Base/ Infrastructures. (Organization, People, and Business Processes use different metrics.)
