Six Sigma BI vs Six Sigma
Six Sigma Business Intelligence differs from the Six Sigma practiced for general business and manufacturing. The product is Business Information and the interface of that information with the people and systems of the organization. The Customer for the product is the Organization and the people of the organization (some external customers - managed by the internal customer). Any improvement in the product will improve the capabilities of the people within the organization for better management. Efficiency and Cost reductions are aimed at BI infrastructures. The organization is not narrowly focused on general efficiencies across the organization. With general business Six Sigma methods, the customer is external to the organization and the products are those revenue/profit producing products upon which the organization is dependent for survival. Improving BI products improves management of end customers and products. Cultural Change and Organization focus for Six Sigma BI is focused on 'entrepreneurial vs narrow thought'; integration and use of BI; creative and innovative use of BI; specialized individual concentration on creation and improvement of information quality.
